9. Birds of the Seychelles

The Seychelles offers a wide range of habitats in which to watch birds. This talk focuses on the rare endemics and how they have been conserved from virtual extinction, in some cases, to sustainable populations (e.g. Seychelles warbler from 26 birds in 1959 to 3000 in 2007). Many of the endemics are numbered in the tens and hundreds and yet are maintaining viable populations in well organised conservation projects on the isolated islands that occur in the Seychelles.
